Lung! Elbow! Vagina!
Yes you heard me! A teacher in Idaho has come under fire for using this technical and descriptive term in class....sex education class. Yup, read all about it here.
Do you think it was appropriate for parents to complain?
This is almost comical. My health teacher showed an entire slide show of STD's to every class she taught, and there were no complaints. Yes, it's repulsive, but really? If anything, it scares teenagers away from unprotected sex, or even sex in general so why are parents complaining? And so what if the teacher cracks a joke about sex? a joke or two about sex in a biology class may relieve the awkward tension and make the class a little less uncomfortable. Parents are far too worried about their kids being warped into sexually obsessed being, but i don't think a teacher saying the word "vagina" or teaching his student about sex (which is basically the foundation of biology) is going to make a teenager any more sex-crazed than they already are.
Oh yes, parents should totally complain that a teacher was using the scientifically correct term to discuss something involving that particular area.
